When it comes to cars, consumers know which brands are associated with luxury and elevated quality. In our survey of 3,000 respondents who currently own and drive a vehicle, and are looking to purchase a new or used vehicle in the next 12 months, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Porsche, and Audi were the brands receiving the highest quality perception scores.

Key Findings on Consumer Automobile Spending:

  • 44% of respondents indicated that they plan on spending less than $25K on their next vehicle purchase.
  • Slightly more than one quarter stated that they intend to use personal savings on their next vehicle.
  • 30% of respondents plan to finance their new vehicle through a bank or a credit union.
  • The majority of respondents stated that they would be willing to pay more for an eclectic vehicle that has the same features, amenities, and functions as a gasoline-powered vehicle.
